Today we are honored to shine a customer spotlight deep in the heart of Texas! Our monthly Customer Spotlight series gives us the opportunity to highlight real, admirable organizations and show how CERVIS comes alongside volunteer programs to make a practical difference. It is our goal and passion to help them (and you!) effectively manage and engage volunteers.

Our Customer Spotlight today is on Mission Waco Mission World, which strives to eliminate poverty in Waco and around the world. Their mission is to empower the poor and marginalized through Christian-based, holistic, relationship-centered programs, to equip and mobilize the middle-class to become more compassionately involved among the poor, and to engage the systemic issues of social injustice which oppress the poor and marginalized. Committed to offering specialized services in Waco since 1991, they have rallied many to impact and change their beloved community for the better. They offer programs and services to meet their community’s immediate and long-term needs, providing opportunities to break free from addiction and access to transitional housing, a free medical clinic, after-school care, and community events. They also foster economic development by launching and supporting businesses in Waco. In 2023, 1,332 volunteers served over 17,500 hours locally with Mission Waco, the equivalent of over 11 full time employees! They are proud to mobilize volunteers in their community, and we are joined today by their Volunteer Director, Bailie Rouse. She shares how their partnership with CERVIS helps make this all possible!

Tell us about your volunteers: 

The volunteers throughout Mission Waco are essential to our overall mission and vision. Our volunteers work in a wide range of areas - from building relationships with individuals on the margins, to providing free health care to those without insurance, to caring for the environment through sustainability efforts and environmental justice, and many things inbetween. We are very proud not only of our volunteers but also the relationship-based volunteer approach that we take to address our mission and vision!

Tell us about working with CERVIS:

CERVIS has helped us to streamline our efforts and has made volunteering more accessible to folks through an easy registration system. In addition, it has helped us to track our whole volunteer processes from orientation, background checks, to additional training for specific programs. I also love the reports feature that helps us track volunteer hours in each program, as well as helping us to see where we need more growth! As far as our favorite feature, truly they are all awesome, but one that we have most recently started using is the background checks integration! This has saved us so much time and allows for our human resources to spend more time with people building relationships and less time processing paperwork!
